What’s happening now on the Scandies Rose

October 28, 2014

Our first trip is finished, and we are in town! 140,000#, worth roughly $850,000 on the advance price of $6.10/#. We will be in town for a day or two, and then back out for the mop-up trip of 43,000#. With any luck at all, our trip will be “in the gear,” since we have 300 baited pots out there!

About F/V Scandies Rose

Welcome to

F/V ScandiesRose is a 130 ft steel crab fishing vessel built in 1978 by Bender Shipbuilding in Mobile Alabama.  We provide commercial fishing services to a number of seafood companies.  The vessel is managed by Mattsen Management LLC of Seattle, WA and is owned by Scandies Rose Ventures LLC.Scandies Rose

Scandies Rose fishes primarily in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska and her port of registry is Dutch Harbor. She holds 60,832 gallons of fuel in ten integrated tanks and over 7600 gallons of potable water.  Scandies Rose will comfortably sleep a crew compliment of eleven.

Captained by Gary Cobban Jr., Scandies Rose is on the water in Bristol Bay Alaska and Southeast Alaska during the summer months providing commercial tendering services for Ocean Beauty Seafoods, Inc.  Scandies Rose’s elaborate refrigerated seawater system allows her to collect salmon from multiple fishing vessels that are harvesting salmon and then tender that salmon to a shore plant-where the cargo is then processed and shipped south.
